Just expressing my views, keep an open mind please

Tommorow is the last day of the promos, and it had to end with two huge papers, which i have yet to revise through. Been slacking ever since i came back home. But you can't say i didnt completely studied. After doing much reading on that Atheist Under your bed site, and reading up on my own about evolution and creationist theories, i realise that i must have been becoming increasingly frustrated with religion. The more i read about atheist, and theism arguments, the more i come to realise that religion is an age-old idea, that is increasingly invalidated by the increasing pace of science.

First reasoning. We all know that the bible was written a very very long time ago, back when there werent enough knowledge in the population to explain strange happenings in the world. Now, keep that in mind, and flash forward to the present. In the present, you see that Science has increasingly explained some mysteries in life. One of the arguements i am going to put forth is one that i saw on that site. In the bible [correct me if i am wrong], Genesis 9:11-17 says that the rainbow was the result of a special act of creation, circa 2401 B.C. Genesis also says that the rainbow serves as a reminder or mnemonic device for God - that He set the rainbow in the sky so that He would remember His promise never again to kill off all flesh with a flood. Now, as we all know, the rainbow is formed from light reflected from raindrops, and has existed since the day the light and rain were present. Now tell me then, why would a omnipotent God need any reminders? If you are all powerful, you would be all knowing. How can He forget such a thing and need a reminder? If he does, then he aint omnipotent no more. This example is to illustrate that the bible has such examples that contradict with Science, because in the past, there is nothing except religion to explain such events. The bible is based on age old thinkings that are wrong, because of the fact that there is a lack of knowledge at that time. And as we all know, outdated stuff at outdated. How could you say that the bible is fully valid? How can religion be valid?

Second reasoning. Creationism and evolution. Many christians i know do not believe in evolution, as it contradicts what the bible says about evolution. joyce once told me that she believed in evolution, because the bible does not refute it. At that time, i thought it was pretty much a good reasoning. Until now. Figures in the bible allow us, again, quoting from that site, that the Universe formed 6000 years ago. Now tell me, is that true? We all know the universe is billions of years old. Futhermore, the bible says that the world was created in 6 days. 6 days?! But then, you might argue back that God, being omnipotent, has no limit, thus, one day can be one thousand years. But then again, the bible says that the sun wasnt created until day 4. So, what is there to keep track of day and night when there isnt any sun? How do you know a day has passed? More of this contradictions can again be found at Science Vs bible, at that same site.

Third reasoning. This is personally what i feel. The bible says that god created Earth on Day 1. So, what was he doing before day 1? Slacking?

Fourth reasoning. The bible says God created the Universe. Ok then, so from there we apparently agree on that fact that something has to be created by something else. So then, where did God come about? He just appeared? Impossible. if he just appeared, it would bring us back to the third reasoning. Ok, so you would ask, if God didnt create the universe, then who did? Well my friends, nobody did. The universe came out of chance. Science has shown that an electron, and some other elementary particles can appear out of virtually no where, and disappear instantly. This particles could have formed, and by chance, collided with one another, forming something.

Fifth reasoning. So, if nobody created the bible, and God is not omnipotent and all loving [which from reasoning, he isnt as he tend to want to strike down non-believers, like me], then how do you explain the goody principles it teaches. From what i can reasoned out, some people are masters of physcology. And when they wrote the bible, they know how certain acts could have a guilty effect on the consience of the person.

shit, i am digressing. Ok, enough for now. Go think about it. Most of the people reading this blog are christians. Dont be offended. Please. Just think about it. Argue back with me. Flame me. But seriously, think about it. just keep an open mind, and think about it. The problem with certain christians is that they are seriously narrow-minded, not open to anything that disrupts their beliefs. I have more, but i think this is enough. i need to study anyways.
