Mercy Killingthe world does not approve of mercy killng. No it doesnt. it prefers people to just suffer before dying, suffer before enjoying peace, suffer with no purpose in life without any means of release. Why am i talking about this?Ya' see, my grandma is eighty plus, and she is as fragile as a rock precariously balanced on a cliff. Her skin is all wrinkled, and her veins are so weak, you could rupture one of them just by scratching it lightly. She bruises easily, and has skin so thin, a mere brush would produce a cut. She can't walk, she can't talk, she can only swallow liquid food, and she doesnt know what is happening to her. She has no clue. And life has just become even more unfair for her. She is having a very bad fever now. A newborn baby having a fever is scary to think about. Imagine how this baby would be affected and how it would grow up if the fever leaves permanent scars. An old lady, on the verge of leaving, having a fever to compound her unknowing confusion is worse than scary. Its pure relentless torture for her, and her family. And yet, the only thing she could ever do is to watch herself slowly lose her life. Tell me, is that fair? Imagine a person with no purpose in life. Being bed-ridden for years, she can't speak, can't move, can't do anything by herself, paralysed from bottom down, and a burden on her family. What is her purpose in life now? To be with her family? it would only increase her hurt, and her burden on the family. the family would suffer a bigger blow once she moves on. What's the point of her living on anymore? The worst punishment a person could ever get is that one is conscious yet is forever immobile. Its a torture that only death could release them from. Yet, mercy killing, or ethunasia, i think, is outlawed. Religion says its against their fundamental beliefs, in the case of christianity and islam. however, in hinduism, there are two sides. One supporting it, and one against it. Both cases base their reasoning on karma. It seems that we are indeed a fickle minded race. To release a person from suffering would result in bad karma, yet not releasing this person from suffering is against moral values. Like say, someone fell down. immediately you would response to help that person, as it is only right to. This is part of our moral values, to help someone out of their suffering, yet in the case of mercy killing, we dont do that, as it is also against the moral values to kill someone. Personally, i feel that mercy killing should be controlled. A balance must be made. Mercy killing can't be outright lawful, as it would be abused by many murderers, claiming mercy killing to relive them of their charges, yet, mercy killing cannot be fully outlawed. A few people in this world are suffering in silence, and lack the power in their lives to end this torture. They can't even commit suicide. The world is a crazy place. With all this going on, one can only think "why am i still sane?" Justin ranted at 8:12:00 pm on the |
