Just a little

Just a little foolishness, the folly of
man in his immotal shell of stubborness, did
not place imperative above importance, but
sold himself to the waves of the world, riding
high on his own glory, before crashing down to
breathe in his own utter destruction.

Just a little sensitivity, the lacking strains of
nobility disappearing from the minds of millions, when
they see themselves being hunted by Nature's Devils, and
cast themselves as actors in this world of deceit, only
for themselves

only for themselves.

I looked upon the many deaths, and thoughts of
dread fill my mind. Is Life so incomprehensible to us that
we do mudane things and ignore the urgency of being wise?
Nay one may say, but to the eyes of the many, we are
indeed the only one who is covered by
the curtains, falling from the heaven's, to
shield ourselves from
our own weak
and turbulent
desires.

To live only for thy self.

Its been a while since i last wrote a poem or something, but based on the things i have read the past few days, it seemed to me that writing about abstraction, hurt and despair has long left me for good. A poem can be made to stand for a multitude of things, and a million thoughts, just simplified into seemingly superficial words that noone would understand at the first look. Maybe i wouldnt even understand what i am writing, but to be driven by a voice in your head to start talking about the world events, and how we might just be heading for our own extinction if we are not careful is a wonderful feeling. I just want to make my voice heard. Maybe that's why Blogs became so popular. From the private diaries of your life, to the public eyes of the world, privacy has deemed to be even more valued than ever. Yet we still blog, to be heard, to be popular, to feel good when you know many people read your thoughts. Its human nature to satisfy only himself, or herself, and to satiate their desires. And thus we do what we do.

I was just thinking about the avian flu, and it's apparent potential to devestate all of our lives. But to think that its all theory that bird flu would one day become one that can easily be transmitted just by human contact, and we are doing tons to counter this problem. Singapore buying Tamiflu just in case of an epidermic. Scentist working on vaccines, and hypothetising the apparent devestation. But think about it. In 1918, there was a similar outbreak, and it was called the spanish flu. Not because it originated from spain though. It killed a total of more than a million people, yet it disappeared after 2 years. Nobody knows why, but that's not the point i wanna make. The point i wanna make is that, why is everyone so caught up with the bird flu thing, when we have diseases that are so much more important, and are raging through the world right now??

One perfect archetype of what i mean is Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS. I mean, it killed a total of 25 million(!) people since it was discovered in 1981. Granted they are Antiretroviral drugs, but to make it effective, as many as four different types must be taken in one go due to the rapid mutation of the HIV virus. Another example is tuberculosis, which takes almost 2 million lives a year. AIDS takes 3 million a year, and the malaria takes 1 million. Again, yes there is a treatment for both tuberculosis and malaria, but it's not given to those who need it more than we do. The people in third world countries, dying of poverty and hunger. The people with no money to afford any medicine. The rich refusing to give in much to do anything about it. Let's see, a total of 6 million people die a year due to such diseases, and we are doing much about it! How can that be??

Yes, we know all about the AIDS movement, tuberculosis vaccines, mosquitoes killings. But is that even enough to tackle such a huge yet unknown, and very much ignored epidermic? People are afraid of the future epidermic that might take its form as the avian flu, but why dont they worry first about the current one? Maybe it just doesnt concern us? Maybe its just too far away from us? I dont think so ladies and gentlemen. We are so close to all these three diseases it will make your spine curl.

Just a little is all we need to do. Just a little.

Just a little to get rid of the folly of man to look too far into the future, and try their hand at predicting the future. When the disaster is already at hand.
