King KongI always thought that King Kong was just a movie, a three hour long melodrama, caused the pictures it showed are always scenes of fighting, especially between King Kong and T-rex. But that was until i saw the movie. And yes, even though my initial instinct was correct, albeit to a lesser extent, King Kong is actually one heck of a movie. And peter jackson is one heck of a director.Granted, most of the scenes is actually in CG. Fighting scenes, creepy monsters. warning, for those who hate bugs, dont ever watch it. The bugs blow up to a huge size, its damn gross. But i guess that is the fictional world that the author was trying to create. And damn well it worked. It like some forsaken island, from the grace of human, covered with creatures that no man could ever think of. but some of the scenes is especially cheesy, and very hilarious. Peter Jackson sure has do know how to humour his audiences. But the driving point in watching King Kong is not because of such cheesy stuff, nor isit because of the beautiful actres (heh..), its becuase of the emotions that is conveyed through the silence of communication between King Kong and Ann, the female whom Kong falls in love with. Somehow, even though there is no verbal communication, nor is there any form of understanding that is visible to the human eye, the HEART, somehow feels the emotions that floods the screen. You can see it in the actions, the eyes of the creature. It transcend normal human understanding. And somehow, it is, somewhat, the essense of Love. yes, its is undoubtedly strange that a huge gorrila can fall in love with a human. And yes, it is strange that a human would return back almost the same affection. But beyond those controversy, what lies pure is the undeniable power, and the way love can make itself known. The pitiful eyes, the brightening up of a smile, a laugh, a simple touch, the desperation of wanting, with hands stretched out. You dont need words. All you need is the universal touch of pure undetered emotions. Yes, King is no Ring. It is cheesy, and sometimes, laughs at itself. But underneath it all is a lesson all of us can learn. Actions speak more than words. People may use sweet words to seduce, and to attract. People may use words, to calm and soothe. But it is, sadly, all superficial. unless, there is a certain amount of emotions that the other party can feel mutually, even the most romantic poetry is just words. Imagine sending a stranger something mushy, i would think the person would flip and throw it away as a prank. Words have no meaning unless we give them. And through actions, and the emotions that they represent, only then can the words truly mean what they represent. Sadly, i do not preach what i have just said. There have been certain things that i am unsure, and certain things that i was reminded of, when i was watching the movie. I guess what is meant to be, is meant to be. Like what King Kong and Ann represent cruelly, what cannot be, cannot be. No matter how hard you try. Justin ranted at 11:55:00 pm on the |
