Unisus

Finally, the saga comes to an end.

The late night trainings, the bruises, the cuts, the aches. They all came down to this fateful day. Or should i say, came down to the fateful yesternight. The opening of the hall Olympiad with the cheerleading competition finally begun.

I remember doing the stunts and the dance moves a little while at 5pm. The stunts could go up, but barely. But spirits still remained high, maybe cause, well, its not time yet. But soon, the stunts went up, except for the gladiator. Which was not that great cause the flyer couldnt get up. But still, we remained confident.

Seeing the rest of the halls and their ridiculous costumes and mascots was funny. There were the ninja turtles, no way as cool as the cartoon characters. There was some penguin, spongeboard squarepants, chu li from street fighter (crossed dressed by a guy to hilarious effect.) Sailormoon, again by a guy. And best of all, Hard Gay! Say say say.

My team mascot was a cupid, acted by my hall vice president. He was painted gold all over, and he had wings, and a halo, and a small arrow which he would shoot from his bow to the hall president to catch, before our team went in. Hilarious. Hilarious. Freakin hilarious.

You might never expect that my university could actually be so happening. The jam band before the competition was actually quite good, and got me into a sort of clubbing mood. The killers rang in my mind, and i was inspired to listen to them again. Which i am now. Their latest album wasnt that great though. But i digress.

So we were all dumped in a room, and we had to dressed up. We had our clothes ready, hair waxed and sprayed with golden highlights and sliver glitters. But we were still pretty much not worried. Not at least until the last moment.

Into the stage we go, surrounded by people from all the halls. At this moment, your stomach tends to be full of butterflies, but the high that you get covers it. With the help of some sugar rush from red bull of course.

The stunts were done. Barely. The dances were done. Almost perfectly. The crowd were wild, at least the ones from my hall were. The cheers were said, with undulating volumes. And finally, as quickly as it begun, it was over.

The real thing came when the results were to be announced. First, who is the best mascot. I dont want to know that, but the emcee had no choice. While waiting for the results, they tried to entertain us with the antics of the mascots, which were very sporting i must say.

Sadly, cupid lost. The bull man won. Deservingly i should add. His entrance in their hall's cheer was superb, and very entertaining.

Finally, after many cold jokes, eye rolling, and nervous group huddling. The results were announced in order of 3rd to 1st.

The 3rd went to Hall 7. Which was pretty much the most entertaining cheerleading squad. Though i think they didnt get above 3rd because they didnt actually do much stunts. But i should think their hall will be pretty disappointed, considering that they wow the crowd to its greatest potential.

Once the 3rd was announced, spirits flew! We knew that the top contender was hall 13, and after seeing hall 7, we thought that they would be first. But apparently they werent, so we were in the running for 1st and 2nd, by the looks of the other competitors.

And wonders of all wonders, we came in second! we were in ruptures, and we were so so ecstatic! It was the first time for everyone in the group when it comes to cheerleading, and to win second. Well, you had to be there to see us very very very happy.

Hall 3 won the first. I didnt see them, but from what i heard, they were the most technically impressive of all. Their stunts were up perfectly, unlike ours, where the timing was a bit off.

But second! that was an achievement! the medals were given, and we continued doing the stunts for photo taking. Bases became flyers, and the flyers became the bases. New moves were added, and we were all so so high.

Came supper at the nearby food court, and it was fun, talking to friends about everything and anything.

Unisus.

Congratulations to everyone!! (:

And we wouldnt have done it without the guidance of our coach.

A happy memory that i wont forget. The feeling i will keep. And the cheerleading?
