Movie spree

I cant believe i actually missed out on this movie some 3 years ago. I always wanted to catch the movie, knowing that it would be a great one. Finally, i got my chance, and damn it didnt disappoint.

There is something to be said about comedic actors that do some serious acting. In most movies in which you see them, they tend to have a characteristic that you can recognize about them. In Jim carrey's case, it would probably be his crazy antics, uninhibited movements, and well, funny and embarrassing moves. Of course, i was milder surprised that he didnt do those even in times that doesnt go his way, but well, he is a versatile actor after all.

The movie starts off slow, with a somewhat depressing narrative about valentine's day, which was kinda depressing for me, but let's move on. The story is about memory loss, and suffice to say, the plot is nice, nothing too complicated, but with a slight twist at the end of it all.

I would say, watch it if you havent.

Stranger than Fiction. Featuring again yet another comedian actor doing a serious role. And he succeeds here. Very well too. Considering he was up for a golden globe award for his performance.

Not yet released here in Singapore i think, but has been released in USA for quite some time. A movie about a person who hears himself being narrated in a story. Even though the ending may be quite cliche, but it is the context of the story that drives you on. I was hooked on the narration, which was quite well-done and the pace in which the story moves on. I would say, without the author's narration, the movie would be quite dull in certain places. Again, watch it when it is released.

The trailer was damn funny. The premise is funny. But seriously? That is the only funny parts of the movie, well maybe for the ending as well, but that's all. The rest are seriously some cringing jokes, and racist shit. And Norbit's wife is seriously damn damn fat in the show. Haha.

Dont waste your money watching this in the Cinemas. Get it rented when the DVD is released, or something. Heh.

Dont watch. One word. Dont. It doesnt move the plot, there is nothing more than killing. and if already know about revelation in the bible, i should think some parts of the movie do not correspond that well to it. I should think that the rapture should have occured if i dont remember wrongly. But it is an interesting beginning, relating all the events to the events describe in the bible when the angles blow the trumpets. Like 9/11, the tsunami, the signing of the european treaty, and even the crash of the Columbia Spacecraft.

But ultimately, that is the only thing that pulls you in. Everything else is half way done, and plot devices are not well done either. Some parts of the stories would be confusing for people who dont know about Armageddon well, especially the part where the Anti-Christ will get a dog on his third birthday if i am not wrong. Or something like that.

But overall, not a brilliant movie, and not a very scary one either, even though it tries to.

There you go. Movies to entertain yourself this Chinese New Year. Oh wait, its the last day of the chinese new year holidays for some of you all. Haha, For the rest, well, happy holidays.
